  • A bit of excitement during the night
last night - with flashing lights, they inspecting the tram lines right below our wide open windows around 2 a.m.!!
  • Luckily an 8:30 a.m. departure time this morning. Today started with a new bus driver & bus! They will be with us to the end which is only 6 days away...This bus has monitors in several places that show the road ahead just as if you were sitting in the front seat!!
We drove into Switzerland - we stopped at Bastei (like a state park). This was how 3 of us made it to & from the restaurant where we had a sauerbraten lunch!
  •  Here are two views from the overlook! That's the Elbe River.

  • Then on to Dresden through nice scenic areas. The group split in two parts - one visited the Green Vault while the other one visited a closed VW plant. I did the Green Vault which is a museum in the Palace displaying many beautiful and old items of great value. Could not take photos inside the galleries but here is the courtyard roof!
  • We then took a 2 hour walking tour of Dresden! Dresden is fascinating! The center of town is chock full of buildings that were rebuilt after the WWII bombing. So much to look at, etc!!!

  • This is to be ringing bells calling the Catholics to mass!
  • We did have a bit of Martin Luther:
  • By this time, three of us or rather our feet and knees had had enough walking so we took the tram to hotel while others did the 20 minute walk!
  • After checking in, most everyone just stayed in to eat at hotel restaurant. At this time, it did rain some - we were glad to be inside - oh yes, the exciting news is this hotel is air conditioned!! I had a delicious cheese plate while others shared pizzas.
  • We are still in Dresden tomorrow so more fancy buildings in the near future!!
