First, we are all safe in Leipzig...it is 4 hours north of Munich.
It was a hot day here as everywhere. There is no air conditioning in the hotel as usually it is not so hot for so long. Our room is bearable as we have the two tall windows wide open and there is a bit of a breeze plus cooling off a little as darkness approaches. This of course gives us surround sound from the trams & buses that stop & go right below our 1st floor window. Now remember that in Europe, the ground floor is 0, not 1 so we could be closer!!

Right (west?) view from room

Coming & going trams - didn't catch a bus there at same time

Lobby of hotel

Dining area of hotel where we had a buffet dinner last night
Room where we had a breakfast buffet this morning
Today we had two local guides for a walking tour from hotel to town center.
 Walking, walking, walking
 University church?
 Local guide & fancy building
Leipzig center is a maze of covered arcades/passages

The director of a company in this building was recently killed in a small plane crash
A pretty courtyard
Then lunch at the Auerbach's Keller restaurant which dates back to 1525!!

Dessert - I missed taking photos of equally well-preserved appetizer plate & delicious chicken & vegetable entree.
Then 3 of us brought a taxi back to the hotel for a rest. Then two of us walked over to train station for ice cream.
Moving slanted walkways
Then back to rooms for another rest! This brought us time for 3 of us to return to train station for a sandwich.

And to close today's post, here is the group:

  1. Auerbach's Keller is mentioned in Goethe's "Faust."
